Maitree Express

The Maitree Express train runs between the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka to Kolkata in India. The international express runs six days a week from each side. The train travels around 375 km to reach Dhaka from Kolkata. There are two immigration checks, one is Gede (Indian side) and the other is Dorshona (Bangladesh side). Previously train services between the two countries existed before the partition of India by the British and the Maitree Express re-established this connection between Dhaka and Kolkata in 2008 after being closed for 43 years.
